No category existed. CineTrade was built from scratch — a real-money prediction market for Bollywood box office, designed for a market that had never seen anything like it.
Defined the product category from zero — mechanics, monetisation model, user flows, and compliance considerations for a real-money trading platform.
Mapped every user journey — onboarding, trade flow, quiz participation, wallet management, and leaderboard — into a unified IA.
Built a cinematic dark design system in Figma — gold/black palette, trading components, movie cards, and a gamification layer.
Delivered production-ready frontend — animations, real-time data integration, wallet flows, and Play Store deployment.
Make a novel financial mechanic feel obvious in three seconds. One gesture — Call or Put on a movie's box office tier, from Blockbuster to Disaster — each position priced by the market and settled against real collection data. The trade screen leads with the position, price, and payoff; the swipe-to-buy sheet keeps the action one gesture away; and the historical box-office analysis sits right beside it, so a bet feels like a read, not a gamble.

Real money raises the trust bar to the ceiling. So the wallet loop hides nothing — a transparent balance, one-tap recharge over familiar payment rails, and instant, legible withdrawals. Every money screen states the number first and the action second.
CineTrade wasn't a transaction — it was an event. Quiz mode and the leaderboard turned every release into a competition. The Gossip Room turned fans into a feed. Rewards and the Stox equity layer gave the session somewhere to go after the whistle, while My Trades kept the portfolio close. A trade became a habit.

We designed both sides of the market. Behind the fan-facing app sits an operator console — users, trades, quizzes, and settlements on one analytics surface — the tooling that let a small team run a live real-money platform.
Launched to real growth with zero paid acquisition. The design decisions held under live load.
VelossaLabs took CineTrade from zero to Play Store — product strategy, information architecture, design system, and production engineering in a single 20-week sprint. The platform launched to 12,000 early access signups without a single paid acquisition.

In 2025, India’s regulatory bodies banned real-money prediction and fantasy trading platforms under new online gaming guidelines. CineTrade — and every platform in the category — was forced to cease operations. Cinestox Technologies shut down.
The product was not a failure. It was a fully functional, growing platform that ran into an external force no amount of design or engineering could prevent. The craft, the decisions, and the delivery record stand unchanged.
This case study documents the design and engineering work VelossaLabs delivered. The platform is preserved as a demo at cinestoxadmin.wixstudio.com/cinetrade
